A learning management system or LMS is a digital/online environment where teachers and students can interact, provide course work and material, give instant feedback, and teachers can track useful and beneficial information regarding what their students are learning.
Canvas makes teaching and learning online even easier. It’s intuitive, collaborative, and you can access it anytime, anywhere, and on any device. Being easy to learn, easy to implement, and radically easy to use makes Canvas that much easier for teachers to adopt. Simple is what Canvas does better than anyone else.
Several key features make Canvas the right choice for Perry Township:
All Perry Township students have Google accounts that are part of the Perry Schools Google Apps for Education account. Only students in grades 6-12 have access to email. Students log in using the following information.
Student User Name: firstname.lastname@example.org
Student Password: lunchnumber [example: 34125]
The key functionality that Google Apps for Education provides students and teachers is interactivity and collaboration. Students can work together on a project simultaneously. Teachers can provide immediate feedback by commenting on work as it is being completed. Google Classroom was recently added to provide a more conducive environment for digital learning in classrooms and the 1:1 initiative in grades 3-8 has provided the access needed to transform instruction in our classrooms.
Note that resources are used differently by different teachers. Your student may not be utilizing this environment.
Not only are our K-3 students learning to type at school, but the software that they use is online and available all the time. Students can log in and practice anytime — at school or at home!
Today’s computerized world offers a lot of opportunities, but it also requires special skills. Learning to type by touch is important for school and career success, because it allows people to put their thoughts into writing without having to stop and worry about where to put their fingers on the keys.
