Even though I was born and raised in a small town in Western NY, when I moved to Perry Township in 1997, it soon felt like home.  I love the close knit community and friendly vibe.  I have been fortunate to have started my counseling career in 1999 at PMHS and currently serve as the School Counseling Director.   I met my wife at the University of Dayton while working on my undergraduate degree and have since earned a Masters degree in School Counseling from IU and later obtained an Educational Specialist Degree. Although I have many administrative duties, such as building the master schedule, I enjoy my time most when working with students and families. I have been fortunate to have a daughter recently graduate from here and another one currently at the high school with me.  High school can be daunting, exhilarating and exhausting all at the same time, but I love being a Falcon and my blood runs blue!

I am student centered, process-minded, and procedure driven.  Relationships and trust are at the core of my counseling approach.  Only after a relationship is built and trust is developed, true counseling can begin. Accountability is important to me, helping students to hold themselves accountable for their own actions and choices is one of my top goals. I believe in empowering students to grow academically, socially, and behaviorally!

Hey there PMHS!  My name is Stephanie Morrow and I am the Team 2023 counselor.  Since I was a little girl, I always knew I wanted to be a teacher.  My passion has always been working with and helping others.  I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and Mathematics from University of Indianapolis.  I spent 4 years teaching math in IPS and helping students with both their academics and personal issues.  This is when I decided to become a school counselor.  I taught for two more years at Perry Meridian Middle School while working on my Master’s Degree in School Counseling at Indiana University.  I have been a school counselor at PMHS since 2008.  I absolutely love my job and the students and teachers that I work with on a daily basis.  When I am not at work, you’ll find me spending time with my family.  I have been married to my husband, Derrick, for almost 18 years.  We have one son, Ben, who is 11 and in 6th grade at Center Grove Middle School North.  We spend lots of time boating at Lake Cumberland, traveling for baseball games, playing golf, and racing go karts.  We live a busy life but wouldn’t have it any other way.  #team2023 #gofalcons

Yassou! That is Greek for “Good Health” which is a common way for Greeks to greet each other, wishing the other person the best of health instead of saying “hello.” My father was born and raised in Greece, and moved here when he was 14 years old. You have him to thank for my mouthful of a name, Mr. Magdalinos. Students have found it easier calling me Mr. Mags, Coach Mags, or Mr. M.  I attended college at Franklin College, majoring in Psychology and received my Masters in School Counseling from IUPUI.  I have been happily married for 8 years and we have an amazing one-year-old little boy named Easton, a dog named Zoey, and a cat named Hoosier.  This is my 7th year at PMHS where I currently serve as the Team 2022  School Counselor and the Head Varsity Boys Soccer Coach.  I also work with all of our Student-Athletes as our contact person for NCAA/NAIA Eligibility. I pride myself on my student-centered approach to School Counseling.  Students need support, they need to know someone understands where they are coming from, and they need someone to fight for them to make their high school experience the best it can possibly be while growing as young individuals.  For Team 2022, and any other student that comes across my path, I intend on doing everything I can to be that person.

Hello! My official title may say Mr. Cottingham, but you can just call me Mr. C.  I grew up on a farm in southern Indiana with a strong faith upbringing and eventually married my college sweetheart. We have lived in the Indianapolis area for over 10 years, and we have been blessed with 2 wonderful children Kylie and Logan.  I love spending time with my family especially as we take our annual road trips to other states!  I initially obtained my Bachelor’s from Indiana University and then my Master’s in Counselor Education from IU, as well.  I’ve taught full-time and helped students as a teacher’s aide in the past.  I have been working for Perry for almost 10 years and currently serve as School Counselor to most of the Senior class.  It is so important to stay busy and be a connection for students, and it really is about showing them the life skills they need and linking them with the resources that will further help them on their journey. I always try my best to be a good listener and to collaborate with staff, families, and students. Go Team 2021!!!

Hi, I am Mrs. Kappel, your School Social Worker.  I bet some of you did not even know you had a School Social Worker…well, you do!  I am actually starting my 14th year here at PMHS.  I worked as a School Social Worker in the Indianapolis Public School System (IPS) for 7 years before coming here. I had the privilege of working with kids and families in a couple different roles as a Social Worker prior to working in schools. I received my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Social Work from IU!  Go Hoosiers!!!  And before that, I graduated from Ben Davis, “back then”, as a good friend of mine’s son refers to the year I graduated!  I have been married for 26 years, and we have two beautiful children. I was actually born in New Jersey, but was raised here in Indianapolis.  This is home.  I have lived on 3 of the four sides of town, including the Southside. My role as the School Social Worker is to help our students be successful in the classroom by helping them to alleviate barriers that may be preventing them from finding that success. I look forward to another great year!

Mrs. Marilyn Morris

Mrs. Marilyn Morris

Guidance Clerk
mrmorris@perryschools.org

Greetings – I am the Guidance Clerk, Marilyn Morris.  Have been working in this department for approximately six months at PMHS.  Grew up on the southside of Indianapolis and a 1983 graduate of PMHS.  After high school, I attended IUPUI earning a Bachelor Degree in Organizational Leadership and Supervision. My past experience has been in accounting for a truck parts company and a think tank.  In 1988 I married Randy Morris who is also a 1983 graduate of PMHS.  We did not date in high school because I thought he was too immature at the time.  We still joke about that to this day.  We have two children, Monica and Taylor.  Monica is a 5th grade Math teacher at Grassy Creek in Whiteland.  Taylor recently graduated with an Accounting Degree from ISU and will be employed at Dauby, O’Connor, & Zaleski in December.  When my children were young, I decided to work for the school.  I started out as a Substitute teacher in the township.  Luckily I substituted as a 1 on 1 with an autistic student who was in the 2nd grade.  After that, I became his 1 on 1 for approximately 13 years at Abraham Lincoln Elementary, Perry 6th Grade Academy, Perry Meridian Middle, and here at PMHS. The experience I gained through this position is priceless. After he graduated, I continued working in the SPED department.  Next, I took a position in the Attendance Office for a few years.  When the previous guidance clerk decided to retire, I accepted the position with encouragement from coworkers.  I am so glad I did and definitely enjoy the new challenge of Registration and the Guidance Department.

Hello! I’m Sheila Lawless and I have the honor of working directly with all of the counselors here at Perry. I am your behind the scenes gal that helps with a little of everything but mostly, working directly under Mr. Miller. I just completed my first year here at PMHS. Before coming to Perry Township, I worked as an office manager in Franklin Township for 5 years. All together, I have been involved in some capacity with education for 16 years. From PTO President to substitute teacher, I’ve done it all. Prior to, my career was with the federal government working directly with the military through DFAS. I married my high school sweetheart Michael, and together we have two daughters. Our oldest Cassandra, is currently a Junior in college studying psychology. Our youngest Michaela, is in 8th grade and will be attending our great PMHS next year with goals of becoming a veterinarian. As a family, we enjoy camping, boating, outdoor family sports, and our favorite is sitting around a fire watching movies in our backyard. When the weather doesn’t permit this, we are big card and dice players! I feel truly blessed with the opportunity to serve PMHS and look forward to many more years of being a part of the Perry Meridian Family!
