Perry Meridian Middle School Extra-Curricular Activities (non-sports)
Academic Pursuit: The Pursuit members in the 8th grade will meet with Mrs. Bowman in B5. 7th grade members will meet with Mrs. Dever in B8. Tryouts will occur in October. The activity runs every Wednesday from October – February. There is one Saturday commitment at the end of February.
Art Club: Any PMMS student or staff member can come work on a variety of fun art projects. The club will meet after school in D13 with Ms. Dennis until 3:45. Students can be picked up at door 18 by the tennis courts. The day of the week is yet to be determined and may change throughout the year.
Beginner Crochet: Ms. Britt will be offering lessons on Mondays in November. Dates are 11/14, 11/21, and 11/28. Please contact her for more information firstname.lastname@example.org
CYCB Bible Club: The club will start meeting every Tuesday, starting September 12th in the PMA cafeteria. We meet 2:45 – 3:45PM. There is no fee for students to join. Join Mr. Reiss and Ms. Cheryl Allen from PTREA for games, snacks, singing, and Bible study. Sign-up sheets available in the PMA and PMMS front offices. www.cybibleclub.com
Falcon Creator Club: The club will meet on Wednesday in the library during lunch. Students will use the tools, equipment, and supplies in the library makerspace to learn about and make different things related to technology, hobbies, and crafts.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA): The club meets Wednesday mornings at 7:00am in room D8 (Watkins). Our campus ministry is initiated and led by students and teacher/coach facilitated. Frequently focused around athletics with all students welcome. We enjoy Bible studies, discussion, games, videos, service projects, and fellowship.
Friday Library Cafe: The library opens at 7am on Friday for students who would like to come in to the library to read, visit with friends, play board games, do homework, use the computers and printers. Breakfast snacks and drinks will be available for purchase for $.50 – $1.00 with all profits going towards school reading events and prizes.
Noble Order of Falcon Gamers: The club will start after football season is over (probably in November). . Students will meet in room D10 with Dr. Rissel after school and play games until 4:45..
Peer Mentoring Club: Similar to Best Buddies, Peer Mentoring matches students with and without intellectual disabilities to build meaningful relationships through interactive activities after school. Our program focuses on diversity, building tolerance and acceptance and compassion towards others. We meet once a month, typically the last Thursday of the month from 2:45 – 3:45 pm. Our proposed meetings are: August 31, September 28, October 26, November 16, December 14, January 25, February 22, March 15, April 26 and May 17. Student Council: We help plan school-wide events and participate in community service activities. The council will begin with an application process and interviews in September. Once accepted, there will be mandatory meetings once a month and committee meetings after school. See Ms. Toler in B9 or Mrs. Carroll in B14 for more information.
Chess Club: The mission of the Chess-Check Club is to encourage interaction with peers, practice social communication, and develop metacognitive thinking strategies and skills. We also want to have fun and learn new chess/checkers strategies and skills.
