A fourth grade standard is naming and describing geometric solid shapes. What better way than to make these shapes! Students at Burkhart Elementary constructed various geometric solids, including pyramids and prisms of different types. Then, they used those shapes to determine the number of faces, vertices, and edges of each. This concrete experience helped students grasp the concept much better than simply seeing these shapes drawn on flat paper.
