After discussing the meaning of Native American Heritage Month, students in Mrs. Patty Epkey’s class at Perry Meridian 6th Grade Academy began creating small totem poles and arrows.  They talked about what is typically seen on a totem pole and each student chose the animals that represent them.  The arrows were made with paint or cloth, feathers and pencil erasers for the tips.  The kids had a great time learning about this culture and its symbolism.  They are currently working on a large totem pole made from milk jugs!
