I am Alex Cooper! This is my first year teaching after working as an instructional assistant at Mary Bryan for the last three years. I have been life-long south sider, graduating from Southport High School in 2016. When I am not having a blast with my preschoolers I enjoy hiking with my three dogs!
I get to make a positive difference in a child’s life each day! I began my early childhood career in 1996 and have been working with young children for over 20 years. I received my undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and my Master’s Certificate for Education at IUPUI. I am a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children and continue my love of learning by reading books and attending conferences regularly. My goal as a teacher is to create a caring classroom community which helps children develop a love of learning and a strong foundation for future learning. I look forward to partnering with families to achieve these important goals.
I joined The Early Childhood Academy in July of 2012. I really enjoy working with the preschool age group because they have an eagerness to learn, develop new life skills, and find more of their own personalities.Even the smallest accomplishment a child makes throughout the year is a great success. My husband Jeff and I got married in 2008. We have two boys Gabriel and Xavier. We also have one dog. I enjoy reading, shopping, and spending time with my family. My family and I love to go on vacation to the beach and Disney.
I have always had a passion for working with children. I began my teaching career in Ohio, where I earned my bachelor’s degree from Wittenberg University in Early Childhood Education (Pre-K-3rd), and Intervention Specialist (K-12). I received my Master’s Degree from Wright State University in Educational Leadership. I have been teaching for 14 years, and I am currently a Developmental Preschool Teacher. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband and 3 kids. We love being outdoors, and our favorite place to be during the summer is at the Lake.
I have been teaching since 2013 at the Early Childhood Academy. I absolutely love working with children, and have been for 20 years now! I started off as an assistant in special education while going to school for elementary education. I received my BS from IUPUI in 07, and worked as a kindergarten teacher my first year. I later went to Headstart where I worked for 5 years and fell in love with the preschool age kiddos. I love to dance and act silly. I enjoy making learning fun and something the kiddos are eager to do! Seeing their growth throughout the year is amazing to watch, and they are always teaching me something new too! I have 19yr old triplets- Bella (who works here too!), Lexie, and Richard, and a Senior at SHS, Anna. My husband Richard and I will celebrate our 25th anniversary next year as well! In my free time I like to play with my dogs Max, Nick, and Noel.
This is my first year at PTEC! I have taught Kindergarten and first grade and I am so happy to find myself in preschool! I have a passion for teaching and learning from younger minds. My favorite subject to teach is early literacy. I graduated from the University of Indianapolis i n 2019. Go Hounds! I have a 21 month old sweet little boy named Jayce! I have played volleyball my entire life and played four years at UIndy. I live on the south side of Indianapolis with my son and our 4 dogs (Sophie, Cali, Zoey and Bella.) My hobbies include: swimming, playing at the park with my son and sitting on the beach.
Hi! My name is Miss Amanda Thacker. This is my 4th year working for Perry Township Schools. I have my CDA. I enjoy working with children and watching them learn and grow everyday! I have 2 children of my own, and super enjoy being their mommy! I feel very blessed!
My name is Brooke Henry, I am looking forward to helping your child learn and grow! I received my bachelor’s degree from Western Governors University in Special Education. I also have a bachelor’s degree in American Sign Language/ English Interpreting. This is my second year as a Developmental Preschool Teacher. My husband Josh and I have two children, Jeremiah and Delaney. We love vacationing in all kinds of places, but our favorite place to visit is Disney World. When we are not traveling we love to play outside and do crafts as a family.
I graduated from Southport Highschool in 2020, and then a few months later started my job here as a special education assistant. My love for teaching came from my mom, Heather Green-who is a teacher here at the preschool as well. I remember coming and helping in her classroom and interacting with the kids since my freshman year of high school. I have always loved kids and helping them. Making a difference and helping out is something I’ve always been passionate about. I’m currently enrolled at WGU, majoring in elementary education. In my free time, I like to workout with my friends, play basketball, and dog sit. A cool fact about me is that I’m a triplet; and I also have a younger sister who is a senior in high school. I enjoy being silly and making jokes with my friends and coworkers.
I grew up in Northwest Indiana and then attended school at Manchester College. I love teaching preschool because it is so rewarding to watch young children learn and discover new things each day. In my free time I love spending time with my family and being outdoors. I also love watching Colt’s football and Red’s baseball.
My name is Melanie Davis and I am excited to be able to work with your child this year. I have been an assistant for 17 years now, you might say I love working with children. I’ve been married for 34 years, I have 3 married children, 2 boys and a daughter, 6 grandchildren with one more on the way.
I’m living my dream because I love teaching! I am a 2006 graduate of Greenwood High school and a 2010 graduate of IUPUI. I have a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I live in Greenwood (where I have lived my whole life) with my husband, Taylor and son, Riley. We love cooking and hanging out with our extended family. In my free time I like to read and sew! I have a passion for teaching early literacy skills, or more simply – teaching kids how to read! Before coming to PTEC I taught Kindergarten for 4 years on the Westside of Indianapolis. I joined the PTEC crew in 2014.
My name is Jessica Lindgren and this is my fifth year here at PTEC Preschool. I attended Purdue University and have been in education for 12 years, most of which has been in Kindergarten. I love teaching the littlest ones because their curiosity and love for learning is endless. My husband, Justin, and I have been married for 11 years. When I am not teaching, I enjoy traveling and going to concerts. I look forward to another great year, and instilling a love for learning into little minds!

I’ve always had a passion for teaching and working with littles! I was offered the position to be a preschool teacher with this amazing community spring of 2021. I’ve been teaching preschool/ Kindergarten since I graduated at Ball State in 2017, and I haven’t looked back since. I recently moved to this community with my husband, Zach and my son, Casen. We also have a kitten named Ollie. Between the rambunctious pair, we stay very busy! I love doing anything outdoors including going on walks and bike rides with my family.
Hi my name is Angie Simmons and I have been here at Perry Preschool in various roles since 2015. I studied Early Childhood Education at Ivy Tech and Elementary Education at WGU Indiana, earning my degree in 2020. I love teaching because I love to see the AHA moments with kids. My husband and I have been married for 16 years and we have a 10 year old daughter, and lots of fur babies that keep us busy. In our spare time we enjoy camping, spending time with our family, painting and being outdoors.
I am the assistant to Mrs. Simmons. I am married to my husband John and have two daughters, two son in-laws, and three grandchildren. In my free time I like spending time with my grandchildren and reading. I have been in childcare/preschool for twenty years and have enjoyed it very much. My name is Blair Vargas and I am so excited to be working in Perry Township. I am a 2006 graduate of Perry Meridian High School and earned my degree in Elementary Education from IUPUI. I then spent a year living in Sweden, working as a nanny. It was a wonderful experience that I enjoy sharing with my students! I love working in early childhood education and have dedicated myself to making sure my students are safe, happy, learning, and having fun while at school. My husband and I live in Perry Township where we love watching our daughters, Hazel and Lucy, grow. We enjoy spending our time tailgating together while cheering on our Colts & Hoosiers!
I started working as a DPS assistant in January of 2019. I love what I do and the people I work with. I have been married for 16 years to my husband Steven. We have 3 children, Kayla, Christian and Landon. We just added a puppy to our family. A golden retriever named Destin. We named him after our favorite vacation spot in Florida. We have lived in Indiana since 2004. My husband and I grew up on Long Island, New York.

My name is Elizabeth Kingery and I am an early childhood speech language pathologist. I am a Perry Township graduate and feel so lucky to be giving back to the district that helped pave my way! I completed my undergraduate work at Butler University (Go Dawgs!) and received my Master’s degree from Ball State University. I have a passion for working with children and ensuring that every child has the access and ability to communicate their wants, needs, thoughts, and ideas. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband, daughter, and twin boys. I love doing DIY crafts and making memories as a family.
My name is Angélica Núñez Méndez, and I have been a speech-language pathologist (SLP) for Perry Township since January 2016. The PTEC preschool is a special place for me as this is where I started my career as a school-based SLP. I first joined the preschool staff as a graduate clinician during my Master’s degree at Indiana University Bloomington in 2015. I currently service the Developmental Preschool, and I am also a member of the early childhood assessment team. In my free time, I enjoy baking, hiking, traveling, and spending time with my dog, Mica, and my family.
My name is Naing Longsang. I was born and raised in Burma. I worked at Salvation Army in Singapore after I graduated from Yangon. I ended up moving to New Delhi and got myself a job as a preschool teacher for Burmese Refugee Children. I worked as a preschool teacher for 3 to 4 consecutive year. My family and I decided to move to United states. I later found a job at Perry Township Preschool as a tutor/translator. I love kids and helping them improve. It is my pleasure to be able to work at Perry Township School and help Burmese Community. Whenever I have my free time, I would spend it with my husband and my three kids; every Sundays we all go to church.
