The patience of the students in Mrs. Amanda Schnepp’s Honors Biology class at Southport High School has been rewarded! They’ve waited four long weeks to taste the root beer and cherry soda they made the “old fashioned” way. A few weeks ago, students made soda by mixing water, flavoring, sugar, and yeast and pouring the mixture into airtight bottles. They then waited for the yeast to undergo anaerobic respiration to give off the carbon dioxide needed to carbonate their soda. The results were tasty!
