After careful consideration, district administrators have decided that students at Perry Meridian 6th Grade Academy and Southport 6th Grade Academy can return to a four-day, in-person learning schedule on Monday, February 22.

That means students will receive in-person instruction in the classroom on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, as long as the COVID-19 positivity rate remains flat. On Wednesday, students will log-in to online learning. Students who do not return to in-person classes will receive remote learning Monday through Friday on the same schedule that classroom instruction occurs.

Guidance from the Marion County Public Health Department states that middle school students may resume in-person learning, while high schools must remain hybrid. At this time, we are only bringing back the 6th Grade Academy students. Student movement between classes is limited, therefore lessening the risk of exposure to COVID-19.

Please remember that if your child or anyone in your home is awaiting COVID-19 test results, the student should stay home until test results are received. If your student is displaying possible symptoms, please do not send them to school.

Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
