Fourth graders in Mrs. Lindsay Mock’s class at Burkhart Elementary School have been learning about electricity. The students’ first task was to build a circuit in order to light up a light bulb. They looked at different circuits and made predictions about which ones would light up and which ones would not. Then they tested each circuit to determine whether their predictions were correct.
Next, students were given a bag filled with various objects. With their groups, they predicted whether their bulb would light up if they included the objects into their circuits. They experimented with their circuits again. This experiment helped them to discover which objects were conductors of electricity and which objects were insulators of electricity.
