Each year, Perry Township holds an art, essay & poetry contest to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. JGE Student Support Manager, Mrs. Francette Calvin, was given a special award at the district’s MLK celebration. Mrs. Calvin asks that 100% of the JGE students participate in the annual MLK contest. She was honored for her hard work and dedication to this event.
Jeremiah Gray-Edison was recognized with an award for their effort to honor Dr. King through art, poetry or essay. The school submits more entries in the MLK contest than the entire district.
Lastly, two of the winning entries in the district, were submitted by individual JG-E students. Cede, a 5th grader, won 2nd place in the Elementary division for her poetry. Alyson, a 4th grader, won 3rd place in the Elementary Division for her artwork.
