At Burkhart, several classrooms participate in Book Buddies, a wonderful program where older students read aloud to younger ones. The younger Burkhart Giants benefit because they get one-on-one attention and a mentor who can teach them about reading. The upper-grade students also benefit because they have a chance to practice their fluency, an important element of reading success. This is a favorite time of the week for many students!
