Intersession students at Southport Elementary worked on several experiments Tuesday. One included using toothpicks and marshmallow’s to build a simple bridge. The final phase was putting the bridge into a vat of jello and shaking the jello to simulate an earthquake. The bridges that bounced around the least were, in theory, the most seismic proof.

One highlight of intersession that’s unlike the regular school day is that students can put in their names for prizes, drawn daily, and today the prizes happened to be candy to take home and share with their parents. While that’s not likely to happen who says going to school during intersession isn’t a sweet deal?
