Staff members in the Transportation Department have been preparing non-stop during the summer break for the 2014-15 school year. Currently, the bi-annual “Bus Blitz”, a preventative maintenance program implemented by Fleet Manager, Marty McIntyre, is underway. All 164 buses in the Perry Township Schools’ fleet are assigned by groups to mechanics who are paired with a driver assistant. Each bus is then pulled into the garage and all operations and components of each bus are checked for proper operation to be sure they are in tip-top shape for the start of school. Additionally, the exterior of each bus is washed (interiors were completed by the assigned driver at the end of the school year).
