Perry Township Schools, this week, is providing educational programs to multiple groups during student Intersession at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School, for those students on the Perry-side and at Southport Elementary for the Southport-side elementary schools. “This is a unique opportunity to not only assist those students who need help but to help others gain new information and the best part of the four days in class is that teachers make it fun”, says Superintendent Dr. Tom Little.

Intersession runs from Monday, March 21st through Thursday, March 24th. Students will attend from 7:30-11:30 am. Breakfast and a snack will be provided to all students who attend. At the elementary level, there are 160 students enrolled in elementary reading courses, 142 High Ability/High Achieving students in 4th and 5th grade and 80 English Learner students in grades 4th and 5th.

Almost 400 students chose to enroll in classes in which they clearly understand the importance of taking time to focus on one subject.  “We are excited to provide learning opportunities in which our students can be actively engaged in differentiated instruction that is targeted to increase their specific skills”, stated Assistant Superintendent of elementary education, Vickie Carpenter. “Our High Achieving students will use problem-based instruction that is focused on real-world experiences. It will be an action packed 4 days of fun and learning for about 400 of our elementary students”, concluded Mrs. Carpenter.

Our Secondary schools are hosting a Spring Intersession for over 600 students. Intersession classes for the middle school and high school students will be held at all secondary schools from March 21st through March 24th from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.

“The middle school programs include remediation support for Math and English/Language Arts, and Enrichment programs for English/Language Arts and Math also”, said Bob Bohannon, Assistant Superintendent of secondary schools. “The high school programs are providing support to students in the areas of Algebra I and English 10 and the SAT/ACT Prep classes”, concluded Mr. Bohannon.
