Over fall break, eleven Perry Meridian High School Creative Writing Club members, led by senior Caitlyn Moore, ran a creative writing camp for 40 fourth and fifth-grade students. Over the course of the three day camp, mentors taught writing lessons to the elementary students with a focus on poetry. Students wrote a poems, worked on editing skills, and put together their own poetry book. The camp culminated with an “Open Mic” reading, where each student had the opportunity to read a poem out loud to the other campers.
