Did you know that dancing increases your mood, strengthens your muscles, and can improve academic work in the classroom? Students in Mr. Helton and Ms. Young’s physical education classes at Jeremiah Gray-Edison Elementary School dance their way to a mile during their ‘Dance Commotion’ game in physical education. Students learned that there are 2,000 steps in a mile and wore pedometers to track their progress during the dancing game. Amazingly, most students achieved more than 2,000 steps in just one class! Pictured here is 5th grader, Justin Garcia, who achieved the highest combo score on the game with a total of 136 correct steps in a row!
