Every year the governor and his wife put up a big Christmas tree in the Capitol building downtown.  This year the theme was centered on creating ornaments highlighting favorite pets.  Students across Indiana, who had made their own ornaments, decorated the tree with Governor Pence and Blue, the mascot of the Indianapolis Colts.  This activity was open to all.  Trevor Shake and Raina Dingess created their own special ornaments as a part of their 4th grade small group language arts lesson at Glenns Valley Elementary School.  Their ornaments displayed paw prints from their pet cat and monkey.  Governor Pence read the “Night Before Christmas” to the children.
