Douglas MacArthur Elementary School has been recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for their participation in the School Flag Program.
Each morning, two students are selected to read the air quality report on the daily announcements. By informing the teachers and student body of the air quality conditions, they are then able to take any necessary precautions. The students then go outside and raise the appropriate colored flag onto the flagpole so that all who pass by Douglas MacArthur can see what the air quality conditions are for the day.
