Southport 6th-12th grade students in the EL Summer Program spent three weeks immersed in American history and culture.  They wrote narrative essays about their homes in their native countries and their homes in the United States. They learned about life in the 1800s and read a biography of  a slave’s escape to freedom. On the final day of summer school, they used new vocabulary they learned  and experienced living history at Conner Prairie.
