Indiana is one of 14 states engaged in the US Department of Education’s Go Open initiative. Leslie Preddy, school library media specialist at Perry Meridian Middle School attended the national #GoOpen Exchange for state and district leaders where at least five national businesses showcased their OER (open education resources) curation tool for education. The Office of Educational Technology defines openly licensed educational resources as “materials that can be used for teaching, learning, and assessment without cost. They can be modified and redistributed without violating copyright laws”. Indiana and Perry Township are poised to be leaders in this forward-thinking initiative.
