Under the direction of Mrs. Penish, fifth-grade students at Henry Burkhart Elementary were invited to work on a submission for the annual fifth grade art contest.  This year students worked on a pencil drawing of a fish.  The field was narrowed to about fifteen students who had additional opportunities to work on their drawing, and then the six best artworks were submitted for selection.  Ruth Mawi’s artistic rendering was selected, matted, and framed.  The announcement of the winning submission took place at the Awards Day program.  Ruth’s selection will join the many other pieces of student art from past years in the Burkhart permanent student art collection.
