Fifth grade students at Homecroft Elementary recently participated in the school’s first-ever Egg Drop Challenge.  Working independently or collaboratively, 5th graders were challenged to create a contraption that would allow an egg to withstand a drop from various heights.  Students used the scientific method to develop a hypothesis regarding what could create a successful egg drop.  Following guidelines set by their 5th grade teachers, they moved forward with creation and experimentation phases.  Egg drop contraptions were tested by being dropped from three various heights:  top of the 5th grade playground, top of a 8-foot ladder, and the top of a 15-foot ladder.
