Homecroft Elementary’s HORNET HEAT Club recently celebrated Dairy Queen’s 75th anniversary by going to Dairy Queen to enjoy a free vanilla ice cream cone. However, there was a catch. Students had to EARN their treat by jogging to the Southport Dairy Queen. Once they arrived, they could receive their free ice cream cone outside while recovering. Afterwards, students jogged back to Homecroft Elementary.

The HORNET HEAT Club is made up of 4th and 5th grade students that are interested in learning about healthy eating and nutrition. The Dairy Queen adventure allowed students to learn that you can still enjoy treats occasionally if you are maintaining a healthy lifestyle and staying active.
