First graders at Mary Bryan Elementary School held a culminating event in social studies called “Tea at the White House.”  Students researched a famous American, and then they portrayed that American by dressing in costume and memorizing facts to share.  Parents attended and greeted the famous Americans at the “White House” (the school’s cafeteria).  The first grade teachers (Mrs. Julie Young, Mrs. Melanie Payne, Mrs. Ann Arnold, Mrs. Martha Buehner and Mrs. Lori Williams) dressed in patriotic aprons and acted as hostesses for the event.
