The City of Indianapolis Office of Education Innovation welcomed U. S. Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, second from right, to the city Wednesday September 17th. Duncan’s visit was part of his “Ready for Success” bus tour. Perry Meridian senior, Sara Allman, second from left, joined the Secretary and other students on the panel. Allman plans to major in pre-law with a double major or minor in musical theater. She’s involved in several clubs and organizations at Perry Meridian including National Honor Society, Thirst and PEERS projects, Then & Now Show Choir and FEST. Sara has also traveled to several countries to sing with The Indianapolis Youth Choir. Superintendent Dr. Thomas Little Jr. and Assistant Superintendent Bob Bohannon accompanied Sara for the event. Secretary Duncan hosted the education discussion to celebrate the successes of connecting families to schools and closing the Achievement Gap.
