The MSDPT menus are based on specific food components following a new nutritional guide called MyPlate.  MyPlate replaces the previous and familiar USDA food pyramid diagram.   MyPlate is a colorful design depicting a basic table setting which is divided into five food groups.  The plate consists of 30% grains (orange), 30% vegetables (green), 20% fruits (red), 20% protein (purple).  A “glass” for dairy is represented by a blue circle.

Students must select at least one fruit (red dot) or vegetable (green dot) plus up to three other items from the color codes. Food from least 3 color codes is needed to make a meal.
