Sixth graders in Mrs. Wessel and Mrs. Stiller’s Language Arts classes at Perry Meridian Sixth Grade Academy have been hard at work on building campaigns to help other students resist peer pressure.  This project based learning activity addresses both Language Arts and Guidance standards and has given the students a chance to make an impact on their school culture.  Slogans like “Steer through Peer Pressure” (connects with school’s ROAD to Success theme) and “Be In Control,” accompanied by logos, posters, flyers, presentations, skits, pamphlets, and even giveaways, are all parts of the campaigns that these students have created to educate their peers on what peer pressure is and how to avoid it’s impact.  Coming soon…one of these campaigns will be chosen for use throughout the school during our Red Ribbon Week activities!
