Fourth grade “officials” (teachers) had a fun day planned for Friday as students participated in the 2015 Super Bowl of Reading! Each student was presented with a “playbook” upon arrival. The playbook consisted of various “plays” (a.k.a. learning activities centered around the Super Bowl). The day was broken into four quarters, complete with halftime concessions. Students worked together as teams to complete various teamwork challenges such as researching the cities of the two teams playing in the Super Bowl, using persuasive techniques to plan must-see Super Bowl commercials, writing “cheers” that follow certain rhyming and rhythm patterns, and more. Students also had a few “time-outs” to read books of their choice.
