Thanks to a grant from the American Heart Association, Rosa Parks-Edison Elementary received funds for a “Teaching Garden”. In late April, students and staff member planted a variety of food and vegetable plants. As you can see, the garden is thriving!
The goal of the grant is to raise an awareness of nutritional needs for children and adults. Some of the desired effects are an increase in fruit and vegetable consumption, more positive healthy behaviors in students, increased senses of responsibility, leadership, team building, confidence and self-esteem.
