With the help of a PTEF Grant, Mrs. Schnepp’s SHS biology students went “Searchin’ for Baby Urchin.” Students studied cell division, fertilization, and early embryonic development using sea urchins as their subjects. Students were amazed to watch the fertilization of sea urchin eggs to produce zygotes under the microscope and then check in on their baby urchins as they developed into multicellular embryos in a process that mirrors human embryonic development.
A big thank you goes to PTEF for funding this engaging, hands-on experience for the students!
