One of the highlights of Monday’s Perry Township School Board meeting was recognizing the Southport High School Basketball Team. For the first time since 1990 the Cardinals made it to the Final Four and played in the semi state against the team that won the 4-A state championship.

Coach Kyle Simpson, along with assistant coaches and players were honored for what it took to go so far in the IHSAA state tournament.

The Cardinals have gone 60-18 in the past 3 seasons. Junior Paul Scruggs has been named a Junior All-Star and Senior center Joey Brunk, who will play at Butler next year, is a candidate for Mr. Basketball.

Congratulations Cards!
