That’s right! Third grade at Rosa Parks elementary had a sunflower spitting contest outside during math. Each child got to spit 3 seeds. Then they measured how far each spit seed traveled and recorded their data.
Students were then asked to find their “median” (the middle number). Finally they organized their data by creating a class bar graph. With this bar graph, students were then challenged to find the class maximum, minimum, median, mode, and mean. It was a math exercise that left a good taste in their mouth’s.
