Students in Mrs. Charlene Richey’s second grade class at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School participated in an engaging and fun writing lesson about using strong descriptions.  Students used their five senses to describe the pumpkins. Then, students switched places to see if their descriptions were “strong enough” for others to guess the correct pumpkin.  Finally, students discussed the importance of strong descriptions in writing.  Thank you to Meijer’s who donated pumpkins to the classroom.

Using their senses : Baylie Hedges is checking to see if there is a smell to her pumpkin, Ne He Miah is using a ruler to measure the height of his, Mary Par is measuring the circumference of her pumpkin, and Dezaray Mingee is checking to see if there is a sound when she taps on her pumpkin.
