On Friday, September 4th, the Southport High School guidance office had the unique opportunity to take a group of students to the NHRA YES program sponsored by the NHRA & the Army. This group of students experienced the high energy National drag races as part of an educational program highlighting the importance of goal setting and how it impacts their future career opportunities. STEM careers were highlighted during the event and students had the opportunity to speak directly with pit crew members and racers. The students were surprised by the number of career fields that are involved in a sports racing team.
