Mrs. Theresa Irons’ third grade class at Douglas MacArthur Elementary School read a story called Suki’s Kimono. To bring the story to life, one girl was selected to model a kimono from Japan. The class then talked about the “obi” or sash and how “snug” it fits, the sleeves of the kimono and how “graceful” it looks when you dance in it, and the “geta” or shoes that you wear. All of these are special words from their story. The class also made “heart-shaped” fans.
