The Hour of Code is an event that coincides with Computer Science Education Week, December 9-15.  It is an initiative designed to introduce 10 million K-12 students to coding (computer science). This is a terrific opportunity for students to develop a fundamental 21st century skill.

Rosa Parks-Edison Elementary is participating in The Hour of Code December 9-19. During the event, each grade 1-5 classroom has reserved a 1-hour block of time with the computer lab, laptop cart or a grade level device. Classroom teachers will have preselected a tutorial or choice of tutorials for their kids to complete during their hour of code.  The tutorials are all interactive and meet three criteria: requires no prior knowledge from students or teachers, little to no involvement from the teacher and must be able to be completed in 1 hour.
