Douglas MacArthur Elementary honored those who have served with our annual Veterans Day Program. Some highlights of the program were:
- The kindergarten and first grade students made flags that were presented to the visiting veterans.
- The Spotlight Singers, led by Mrs. McAllister, sang ‘Sing, America, Sing!’ and ‘For the Good of the Many’.
- Student “Thank You Letters” were presented by Lucy Richardson, Ava Harris, and Bethany Ramsey.
- Each grade sang a song to honor the veterans.
- The veterans who were in attendance were recognized.
- The ceremony closed with a flag folding presentation, 3 rifle volleys & taps, then a slideshow.
- Earlier this year, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students wrote to WWII veterans who were leaving to visit the National WWII Memorial, through Indy Honor Flight. Two of these gentlemen, Mr. Bob Ivy and Mr. George Mehling, travelled from Anderson, Indiana, to attend our program.
Thank you to all who attended and participated in the program.
