Mrs. Starlena Hardimon has been appointed Principal of Douglas MacArthur Elementary School.

Mrs. Hardimon graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism in May 1991.   In 1998, she entered a Transition to Teaching Program and received her teaching license for K-8.  Continuing her educational path, Mrs. Hardimon graduated from the University of Indianapolis with a Masters of Education Leadership in 2007 and also with an Administrative License in 2008.

Prior to this position, she taught in Toledo Public Schools from 1998-2000 and at Southport 6th Grade Academy from 2001-2007.  Mrs. Hardimon has also served as a Literacy Coach and in the role of an Assistant Principal.

This is a fine example of the school ladder approach of the township.  We are committed to growth from within; a place where staff can realize their professional dreams.

Mr. David Henriott has accepted the position of Principal at Rosa Parks-Edison Elementary School.

Mr. Henriott earned his B.A. in Elementary Education, M.S. in Education and his Administrative License from Purdue University in West Lafayette. He entered the profession of education in 1993.  His teaching experience has been at the 4th and 5th grade level.

In 2001, Mr. Henriott began his administrative career.  He has served as Principal of Arlington Elementary School in Franklin Township Community Schools since 2003.

Mr. Henriott brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success in the educational field. He is an excellent match for this position and will be valuable in meeting Perry Township’s strategic goals and objectives. He models energy and positivity.  He is a goal-driven individual with strong leadership capabilities which is child-focused and child-centered.

Mrs. Andrea Lakin will serve as our new Title One Administrator.

Mrs. Lakin graduated from University of Indianapolis with a BA in Elementary Education in 1997.  Four years later, she received a master’s degree in Special Education from Butler University.  In addition, she has earned the professional credentials of School Administration and Leadership and Director of Exceptional Learners.

Mrs. Lakin’s career includes teaching special education in Avon Community School Corporation and MSD of Wayne Township.  In October of 2011, she began serving in the position of an Education Specialist for the Indiana Department of Education.

Mrs. Lakin brings data-driven practices, organizational leadership and collaborative experiences in the educational field.  She is an excellent match for this position and will be invaluable in meeting Perry Township’s strategic goals and objectives.
