In writer’s workshop, fourth grade students in Mrs. Lindsay Mock’s class at Burkhart Elementary published their very first piece of writing.  Before doing this, they had to select a piece of writing that they had already begun.  They went through the entire writing process to make their writing even better.  First, they used a graphic organizer to organize their writing.  Next, they wrote their rough drafts.  They then “PUMPED UP” their writing by using Post-Its to add extra details.  Finally, they typed and illustrated their final drafts.  The class ended the week by having a writing celebration where students had the opportunity to share their writing with a fellow classmate.
