Congratulations to Southport High Principal Brian Knight, our 2019 District Administrator of the Year!

Mr. Knight started his career with Perry Township Schools back in 2003 as a teacher at Perry Meridian High School, where he was eventually promoted to assistant principal. In 2011, he moved to Southport Middle School where he served as principal for five years before taking on his current role at Southport High School in 2016. He has completed his third year.

Brian was nominated by his fellow colleagues for his desire to continually grow and improve himself, as well as others. He keeps students at the center of his decision-making and creates a culture that maximizes student success. He creates many opportunities that raise student voices, allowing them to help shape the learning environment in his building. He works closely with parents to meet individual student needs and goes out of his way to build relationships with his students.

Mr. Knight is always willing to collaborate with peers. He shares the work he’s doing and gives wonderful feedback to help improve the work at other schools as well. He has mentored countless aspiring leaders, always making time to sit down and talk with them.
