On Monday, April 29, 2019, Gov. Eric Holcomb signed a bill that changes the eligibility cutoff date for students entering kindergarten in the 2019-20 school year. If your child will turn 5 on or before Sept. 1, 2019, you are eligible to apply for kindergarten. Previously, a child was eligible for kindergarten in the fall of 2019 if they turned 5 on or before Aug. 1, 2019. Registration is now open!

The new legislation also affects preschool eligibility. If your child will turn 5 between Aug. 2 and Sept. 1, 2019, you are eligible to apply for kindergarten or the Early Childhood Academy. You may not apply to both.

Because we have strategically built kindergarten academies in four locations throughout the district, students are assigned as follows:

Home School Kindergarten Academy
Clinton Young (if residence is north of I-465)
Mary Bryan Elementary
Southport Elementary
Jeremiah Gray Kindergarten Academy
