Spring Sports Info – 2022

Parents & Athletes,

The following procedures and policies for PMMS Athletics will be put in place to keep our coaches and athletes safe this upcoming Spring Sports Season. Please be aware that these policies and procedures are mandatory for our athletes and coaches to follow. We are following the Indiana DOE and the IHSAA recommendations, while also staying consistent with our high school. Please note that these procedures and start times remain tentative based on current health information provided by the state of Indiana, the ISDH and the IHSAA. This letter is lengthy, but extremely important. Please be sure to read each section. Thank you for your time and for helping us keep our coaches and athletes safe!

ALL ATHLETES MUST BE REGISTERED FOR SPORTS USING FINAL FORMS ATHLETE REGISTRATION! Any athlete who attends practice without being fully eligible in final forms will not be eligible to participate. This can be found on the school’s website at http://www.perryschools.org/pm/athletics/finalforms/

Here are other precautions we are taking to keep our coaches and athletes safe, based on recommendations from the DOE and IHSAA:

-If an athlete is not feeling well, please do not send the athlete to a workout. If an athlete is diagnosed with COVID-19, please report that to your coach ASAP.

-All students should bring their own LABELED water to workouts. Water bottle filling stations will be accessible.

-When practicing inside the building, all athletes will wear a mask while entering and exiting. Athletes do not have to wear a mask while exercising. Coaches will wear a mask while inside the building and working close to our athletes.

-When practicing outdoors, athletes will not be required to wear a mask. Coaches will wear a mask when in close proximity to our athletes.

-Any student who prefers to wear a mask while participating, provided it does not cause a health risk, will be allowed to do so.

-When arriving and leaving workouts, all coaches and athletes will use provided hand sanitizer or will be asked to wash their hands.

-Before and after each practice, equipment will be sanitized using a disinfectant spray.

-Workouts are closed to anyone other than our coaches and athletes.

-After a workout, athletes should be picked up immediately and the parking lot should be cleared.

You will find contact information for our Spring Sports below. Please contact the coaches listed for any questions you may have about an individual sport. It is very important that you complete the final forms registration and IHSAA physical requirements prior to the first day of participation.

Tryout Dates:
March 14 (Pitchers and Catchers Only – West Gym/Outside): 3:15 – 4:15 pm
March 15 (Arm Strength and Fielding – West Gym/Outside): 3:15 – 5:00 pm
March 16 (Baserunning and Hitting – West Gym/Outside): 3:15 – 5:00 pm

**We may not have to use all of these dates to complete our tryout. Additional information will be sent out if this schedule changes.**

Participants must have their Final Forms updated and a Physical on file in order to participate in any tryouts or skill days

Daily Equipment Needed: All baseball gear (hat, glove, bat, cleats, catcher’s equipment, batting helmet, etc.). Bring clothes to wear inside (gym shoes, sweats, t-shirts) or outside (cleats, sweats, hoodies) as the weather is unpredictable this time of year.

Boys Golf:

Location: Southern Dunes Golf Course, 8220 South Tibbs Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46217
Must have to try out:
Fill out the Information on the registration form.
You need to provide your own clubs and transportation.
You need to be registered in Final Forms and have a Physical on file.
Appropriate golf attire: Polo, khakis, belt (color does not matter)
All golfers who make the team will be required to pay a $50 activity fee to PMMS

Tryouts will take place on Monday, March 21st, Tuesday, March 22nd and Wednesday, March 23rd. After school 3:15 -5:15.

Parent Meeting on Thursday, 3/24 at 5:15.

Call out meeting: March 10th: 3:00pm-3:30pm PMA cafeteria
(must be picked up on time, no supervision after 3:30)
Tryouts: March 14th – March 16th (M-T 3:15pm-4:30pm, W 3:00-4:30)
– Must be present all 3 days
Parent Meeting: March 18th at PMMS courts (4:00-4:30)
Uniform Information will be distributes
Practice: Beginning March 17th, daily (unless we have a match)
3:15pm-4:30pm (M,Tu,Th,F), 3:00pm-4:30pm (W)
Items you need:
Tennis racquet, tennis shoes, water jug (not just a water bottle) this is a must have, and appropriate clothing for weather (shorts, t-shirts, light jacket or sweatshirt)
A desire to learn tennis: fundamentals, game strategy, shot placement, team building, and drive to win.

Call out meetings will take place during lunch on Wednesday, March 2nd in both PMMS and PMA.

Practice begins the week of March 7th after school each day until 4:15 for girls and 4:30 for boys.. Be prepared to run outside each of those days.
All students should bring their own LABELED water to workouts. Water bottle filling stations will be accessible.
