Perry Meridian Middle School Extra-Curricular Activities

Academic PursuitThe Pursuit members in the 8th grade will meet with Mrs. Ward in B6A.  7th grade members will meet with Mrs. Johnson in B9.   Tryouts will occur in October. The activity runs every Wednesday from October – February. There is one Saturday commitment at the end of February.

Art Club:  Art Club will meet on Thursdays until 4:00 in D13 with Mrs. Dennis.  Pick up will be at Door 18. Permission slips are required. Art Club will start in November.

Breakfast Book Club:  Breakfast Book Club has a new book every grading quarter. The club meets for four Fridays 7:30 – 8 a.m.  Each grading quarter a new book and dates for Breakfast Book Club will be announced. Students need to sign up in advance and be able to bring their own lunch or drink and provide their own transportation to school on meeting dates.  See Mrs. Preddy, the school librarian, or e-mail her to join and reserve your book.

Falcon Creativity Club:  Throughout the school year, the library will host opportunities for students to meet in the library makerspace during lunch to create things for themselves and gifts for others.  Students need to watch Falcon News to hear when the next activity is available and see Mrs.Preddy, the school librarian, or e-mail her in advance to reserve a seat and supplies for the event.

Falcon Speech Team:  Call out meetings in Mid-September.  Team competes in Indiana High School forensics events such as drama, discussion, original oratory, humor, radio and more.  Season runs from October through February with meets on Saturdays. Contact is Coach Brent Speraw, 317-789-4139.

Family Game Night:  Family Game Night is the second Wednesday of every month from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.  Join us for fun, family and gaming! Play any card or board game you want. You can play a game we have in the library, learn how to play a new game from one of our gaming experts, or you can bring in your own to play. If you have any questions, see Doc Rissel or Mrs Preddy.  No electronic games, please.

Knit Wits:  The Club will meet two Thursdays a month starting in November.  We will meet after school until 4 p.m. in Mrs. Nieten’s room (A20).  Please e-mail Mrs. Nieten for more information: enieten@nullperryschools.org

Peer Mentoring Club:  Peer Mentoring matches students with and without intellectual disabilities to build meaningful relationships through interactive activities after school.  Our program focuses on diversity, building tolerance and acceptance and compassion towards others. We meet once a month after school. The dates for this year are:  August 29, Sept. 26, Oct. 31, Nov. 21, Dec. 19, Jan. 30, Feb. 27, March 19, April 30 & May 14.

Service Learning Club: SL Club is designed to allow students to show social responsibility by helping our communities.  Students will draw on concepts they have learned in school to find and solve real-world problems.  SL Club is open to both 7th and 8th grade students. Students will work with teachers to identify issues in the community, research and develop a solution, and then implement that solution. Most projects will be self-selected by students.  We will meet after school on Tuesdays until 3:45 but may not meet every week. We will primarily meet in D7.
