Time to lace up your running shoes. Registration is now open for the 2nd Annual Hound Hustle 5K Walk/Run, hosted by the University of Indianapolis in partnership with Coach Hathaway’s Running South. Proceeds benefit the Perry Township Education Foundation, directly supporting students and teachers in Perry Township Schools. Click here to sign up.

For 11 years, the district proudly hosted the Coach Hathaway Running South event to honor legendary Southport coach Tom Hathaway—a beloved mentor and champion of youth athletics. Coach Hathaway led his boys cross country teams to state titles in 1970, 1971, and 1975, and his girls teams in 1978, 1979, 1980, and 1981. He was inducted into the UIndy Athletics Hall of Fame in 2006 for both Mens Track & Field and Mens Cross Country. In 2024, the district passed the baton on to UIndy to host the 5k, where they have graciously hosted since then. If you’d like to partake, see details below.
