Perry Township follows the Indiana definition of a high ability learner as one who “performs at, or shows the potential for performing at an outstanding level of accomplishment” when compared to peers. Students can be identified for the high ability program through one of 6 pathways.

The district recognizes that cognitive growth is not always consistent. To ensure all students are receiving appropriate curriculum and instruction, they are evaluated in Kindergarten, 2nd, and 5th grade. Nominations are also taken during the grade levels that are not assessed. Academic placement decisions may be modified in accordance with changes in students’ learning profiles as they progress through elementary and middle school. For more information on our withdrawal process, please contact the high ability coordinator, Kim Jovic at kjovic@perryschools.org.
