About Our School
William Henry Burkhart Elementary is dedicated to helping students grow! These efforts were recognized when Burkhart was named a Distinguished School by the Indiana Department of Education during the 2018-2019 school year.
At Burkhart, “We SPARK Learning” through our special emphasis on excellence in the arts. Through SPARK (Special Programs in the Arts for Kids), we arrange visits from artists, field trips to museums, theaters, concerts, and other unique learning opportunities. Burkhart features a strong, well-rounded academic curriculum which includes the Young Hoosier Book reading program, Reading Giants, Math Master and Math Whiz programs, and Project Lead the Way. The staff of Burkhart is committed to providing a caring environment that challenges and encourages our students to excel in citizenship and academics while fostering their special interests.
Many club offerings exist for students including Giant Voices Choir, Spell Bowl, Running Club, Student Council, Math Bowl, Intramurals, and Dance Club. Burkhart is proud to host annual school events such as Holiday Candlelight Luncheon and Field Day. Burkhart strives to help students build a solid foundation necessary for academic success and the life skills necessary to enable them to become caring and responsible citizens.
