The Hornet H.E.A.T. (Healthy Eating and Training) Club was established to provide 4th and 5th grade students exposure to living a healthy lifestyle through nutrition and fitness. The club meets each Monday after school, and students have the opportunity to work with a certified personal trainer. The club is very active in the local community and have participated in events such as: the annual Running South 5k, an annual flag football “Turkey Bowl” on Thanksgiving morning with Douglas MacArthur, and a year-ending “Run to Dairy Queen” fun run. Sign-ups for HEAT Club begin in August, and the club accepts the first 30 students that apply. After that, a wait list is created for other interested 4th and 5th grade students.

The goal of this program is to provide young men with the necessary skills and tools to become productive members of society and future role models for other males. The 4th & 5th grade boys participate in team building activities that encourage cooperation and build character. Students will learn how to act more like gentlemen in appearance, actions, and attitude. Each student will be held at a high standard of performance and behavior. All expectations apply to school, buses, and community activities.

Our After-School Achievers program provides mentoring, motivation, and homework assistance for students after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 4:30. During the program, we work in small groups guiding our students as they complete homework. We serve snacks and provide a welcoming environment for our students to learn, to share, and to enrich their academic skills.

GIRLs Club meets after school every other week. The club is available to 4th and 5th grade girls. The members have an opportunity to participate in projects that help our community and school. We have a strong focus on the power of kindness and positivity. We also work on proper etiquette and manners.
