First grade had a great time at Kelsay Farms! During the tour students had a first-hand look at a modern agriculture, free stall barns and learned how to care for the animals. First grade had an opportunity to observe and pet different animals and learn about what they eat and how to feed them. Their visit to the farm also focused on the responsibilities of farmers, the benefits of agriculture and how agriculture affects our everyday life. First grade learned about the different types of corn and how a lot of our food has corn in it. They also learned about cotton trees and how we wear a lot of cotton in our clothing. Each student received a delicious dairy snack, a special dairy goodie bag to take home.
