Dear Southport Students, Families, Staff, and Community Members,

We have received several questions about today’s Homecoming Parade and football game due to the heat. At this time, both events will proceed as scheduled:

• Homecoming Parade: 5:30 p.m.
• Football Game: 7:00 p.m. kickoff in Cardinal Stadium

Whether you are participating in the parade or watching along the route, please bring plenty of water. We also recommend using umbrellas for shade and bringing cooling misters or fans if available. Please take appropriate precautions for your health and seek assistance immediately if you begin to feel unwell.

If your group was planning to participate in the parade but has decided not to participate because of the heat, we completely understand. We will gladly adjust the parade lineup, so there is no need to worry. Please email Mr. Hanley as soon as possible to let him know of your group’s decision.

Our Adult Athletic Booster Club will have a limited number of items available for purchase outside the main gate before the football game, and a beverage truck is also scheduled to be available. Staff members, volunteers, and police officers will be stationed throughout the parade area to assist as needed. A nurse will also be available on-site.

The weather has required several adjustments to this week’s activities, so we are especially excited to come together for tonight’s parade and game. Homecoming is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Southport High School and connect our students, staff, families, community members, and alumni.

The only anticipated changes to tonight’s schedule would be related to rain, storms, or an extreme change in temperature. We will communicate any necessary updates as quickly as possible.
