We Grow Kids: Enzo Zavaleta's Story
We Grow Kids: Enzo Zavaleta's Story
Enzo class of 2023:
Enzo Zavaleta grew up in Peru. In 2008, his parents wanted to provide better opportunities for their family, so they moved to, of all places, Indianapolis! Things in the US were quite different, especially for Enzo, who was student at Southport Middle School. He spent his first week, just trying to keep up. But eventually, Enzo got the hang of school in America. He began to excel. By high school, Enzo was taking AP courses and his passions began to form. He graduated with academic honors and was accepted into MIT where he plans to study aeronautical engineering. Enzo credits his education at Perry Township Schools for preparing him for what is sure to be a successful future.
“I basically came from nothing…because of Perry Township, I’ve been motivated and academically challenged to pursue my career and find my passions,” Enzo Zavaleta.
Where are they now:
Enzo wrapped up his freshman year at MIT, quite busy! He is an aerospace engineering major (no surprise there) and a Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity member. In the coming year, Enzo is also pursuing research opportunities where he would collaborate with graduate or PhD students. Enzo will be working as a teacher’s assistant. Enzo also plans to study Japanese in hopes of being eligible for MIT International Science and Technology Initiative (MISTI). This would allow him the opportunity to be an intern at a Japanese company. If that wasn’t enough, Enzo also joined breakdancing and sailing clubs! When he’s not studying, Enzo enjoys spending time with his friends.
